Library Lunchtime Guidelines
The library is a great place to spend some time during your lunch period. It's a very popular spot, so we ask for your cooperation in keeping with the guidelines to ensure that everyone in the library during lunch has a fun, safe experience.
Guideline Do's:
DO leave all your food and open containers in the cafeteria before you enter the library. Any bottles with tops, reusable bottles, or coffee cups with tops are allowed in the library at all times. Please report a spill to the library or an aide immediately. Soda cans and open cups are not permitted.
DO pay attention and follow the "World Around You" rule: meaning that if you enter the library and things are quiet and studious, we ask you to maintain that environment. If you enter and things are lively, feel free to follow suit.
DO use the bathroom before you enter the library. Once you've arrived, you will be asked to stay in the library until the bell rings for the end of lunch.
DO stay in your seats until the bell rings. Please avoid bunching at the library doors waiting for the bell - keep the entryway clear for incoming students.
DO feel free to use any of the desktop computers to work on homework, research, personal use, or even appropriate games.
DO feel free to use any of the board games available to students. Make sure to clean up after yourselves and keep all pieces together. Want a new game? Make a recommendation to the librarian.
DO pick up any trash you see, even if it's not yours. The library is a special place where students should feel free to work, relax, or collaborate. Keep it clean and calming.
DO leave everything the way it was when you arrived. Push in your chairs, straighten up your space, and return any books to the shelves you were browsing. Feel free to stop by the check out desk to check out any books you want to take with you.
DO feel free to text, listen to music with headphones, or play on your phones. Actual calls should be made in the halls between classes. Any videos you want to share with friends should be listened to on headphones as well.
Guideline Don'ts:
DON'T violate any of the above guidelines. A kind reminder will be made once, after that, you will be asked to return to the cafeteria for the remainder of the semester.
